How to Choose a Pet Stroller Manufacturer in China
Start with the channel, not the catalogue
The most common mistake first-time buyers make is starting from a product catalogue instead of a retail price. A stroller that works for a US$79 online listing is a completely different product from one that sells at US$199 in a specialty chain. Fix your target landed cost first, then work backwards to the specification.
Six things to confirm before you place a deposit
- MOQ per model per colour — a realistic first order is often 300-500 units, not the 1,000+ that some factories quote for new tooling.
- Whether the quoted MOQ applies per colourway or across the order. This single detail changes your cash requirement more than anything else.
- Sample lead time and sample cost, and whether the sample fee is refunded against the bulk order.
- Tooling ownership — if you pay for a mould or die, the agreement should state that it belongs to you and cannot be used for other customers.
- Third-party test reports for the markets you sell into, and whether the factory will support your own independent submission if you need your brand name on the certificate.
- Payment terms — the industry norm is 30% deposit with the balance against a copy of the bill of lading, though a small first order may require different terms.
Where the pet stroller industry is concentrated
Pet stroller manufacturing in China clusters in two main regions. Xiamen and Ningbo are the traditional centres for finished pet strollers, with mature supply chains for fabric, wheels and folding mechanisms. Shandong — particularly the Qingdao area — is stronger on the cart and trailer side, drawing on an existing base in hand trucks, garden carts and bicycle trailers.
For buyers already sourcing other products from Shandong, consolidating pet strollers or pet trailers into the same container can meaningfully reduce per-unit freight cost.
Audit, or at least verify
A full on-site audit is not always economical for a first order. A reasonable middle path is to request a video walkthrough of the frame and sewing lines, ask for business licence and export records, and use a third-party pre-shipment inspection on the first two shipments. Once volumes justify it, move to an annual audit covering social compliance as well as quality.
Red flags worth walking away from
- A factory that cannot produce a sample before asking for a bulk deposit.
- Compliance certificates issued to another company name presented as their own.
- Reluctance to specify fabric denier, tube thickness or load rating in writing.
- Prices so far below the market that the specification must be missing something.
What to send us to get an accurate quote
The fastest way to a firm number is: target quantity per model, target retail or landed price, destination port, the markets you need compliance for, and — if you have one — a photo or drawing of the model you are trying to match. With those five items we can usually come back with a specification and a price within two working days.
Send us your target quantity, destination market and price point — we will come back with a specification and a quote.
